How to Work Online and Make Money

How to Work Online and Make Money from Home Legitimately

Although I really enjoy my job, I’m preparing to hand in my letter of resignation. There are several reasons for this, but the biggest and most significant one is that I want to spend more time with my kids. They’re still young (not even in preschool yet), but I already feel as though I’m missing out on everything when I drop them off at daycare every morning, so I want to put my career on hold for a little while longer. The problem is we can’t afford to lose my entire salary, which is why I’m trying to figure out how to work online and make money before I quit my day job.

I know a number of people lucky enough to earn their living from Internet-based business ventures. They run online web stores and sell stuff on eBay, which is great for them, but not something I’m interested in. I need a regular paycheck that I can count on, so I’m not going to get into anything that depends on sales or commissions. Instead, I’m out to find real businesses and companies that allow employees to work online and make money that way. Telecommuting is huge these days, meaning I’ll hopefully be able to land a good position soon.

As a matter of fact, a news report just came out the other day where more and more small businesses are looking to hire telecommuters or people who work from home, to help reduce labor cost.

It would be easier to work online and make money from home if I had computer programming skills, as I’ve seen a lot of those kinds of jobs advertised, but there’s no way I can do anything like that, and I simply don’t have the time to take classes and learn. Fortunately, there are other computer-related jobs that I can probably pick up with just a bit of training, such as data entry, medical billing, medical transcription, and bookkeeping. I’ve seen a lot of advertisements for these types of jobs, and some even say that no experience is necessary. I’m going to send my resume out to a couple of these companies over the weekend.

Teaching is another way that I can work online and make money. Many colleges and universities now offer non-credit classes on the Internet, and they need experts in all kinds of fields to either develop whole courses from scratch or teach existing ones. Since these are non-credit offerings, no real teaching certification is required. Candidates just have to demonstrate computer proficiency, excellent writing skills, and expertise in a certain field. I’ve seen calls for people to teach everything from grant writing to foreign languages, photography, parenting and childcare, GED test preparation, and more.

These many options are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to legitimate ways to work online and make money. For example, I’ve also seen telecommuting positions available in areas like virtual personal assistants, customer service, and high school and college tutoring, so I’m confident I’ll be able to find something soon. Thanks to this initial research, I’m very excited about the prospect of being able to earn a good salary while still being at home for my kids!
